To protect a trick...

Hi, I'm Christopher Jackson. I've come here to show you a few magic tricks that I've invented and write a blog or two helping you guys become better magicians. My favorite ttype of magic is Coin and Gimmick realated. I invent my own gimmicks to make advanced tricks usable for everyone and I enjoy helping other magicians. I am a firm believer in the Magician's Oath. Now...lets start the show.
To protect a trick is to keep the secret of how it is done safely out of the hands (and minds) of the public. While people you are showing the trick to may wish to know how a trick is done...they are always more happy guessing how it's done then knowing how (even if they wont fess up to it).
Here are some helpful tips on how to keep a secret...secret.
1. Practice! This is the most imporatant factor in keeping a trick's secret safe. If you do a trick correctly, then everything cool. If you mess up the trick, then everyone who saw it will know how it was done and probably go tell their friends about it.
2. Don't think just because someone says "Dont worry, I swear I'll never tell a soul how it's done" it means they wont. People lie, its true. To get what they want most people have very little problem telling you a lie. Its a sad truth.
3. Do not do repeats! Sometimes when you do a really cool trick you'll hear people ask to see it again. DON'T DO IT! A second showing doubles their chances of finding the tricks secret. If they ask, then they dont know, so everything is fine. Just say something like "Can't, if I do the same trick twice I'll explode into a pile of suger-free gum" It's funny, and it will stop them from asking to see it again.
4. Know who is around you. If your doing a trick that involves the french drop, make sure no one is behind you. Alot of tricks depend on angles. If a person see's a trick in a way they were not suppose to...your screwed (just that simple). So before you do a trick make sure you know whats going on all around you. This can be very difficult when doing street magic.
There you go, 4 tips to help you keep a trick magicial for the public. Thanks for reading.

You're right!
I almost blew "The King Rising" on the street just because somebody was passing right next to me, so i "invented the excuse" that that particular area of the floor hadn't the enough energy for the trick, and then i got close (enough) to a wall and kept the people on the right angles. In magic, i believe you have to be a quick problem-solver to end clean and safe out of your tricks.
Thanx 4 the tips.

yeah..!! you're rite. The beauty of magic tricks is to keep the whole thing secret. I've once screwed (not while doing it, but i forgot to 'clean' the 'gimmick', then sumone blew out the whole thing)
If the audience knew, they wont appreciate the tricks. Thanks.

I was reading the blog thinking to myself, "yeah I know this already" but then I cam across the part where you said "if they ask for a repeat tell them you'll explode" I was thinking then to myself about how many times I've given away a trick because I did repeats. Thank you very much this article was extremely useful
