What makes a good magician?

I'm now an advanced magician, making my own tricks, and also, Doing my own shows, It took a whole lot of work to get to where I am now, I am very fond of my magic and practice a bunch in my spare time. I also do my shows for Birthday parties!! It's so fun!! Good luck to all magicians, that want fame and fortune!
If you've ever gone to a real magic show, you would notice that the magician in't just a guy that pulls a couple of magic tircks on you to fool your eye, He has a smile on his face, he's got good jokes to go with the magic trick he's doing, Most magicians miss this point and just pull a couple of tricks and they're done with the show!! If you know any good jokes that go with the trick, put them with it, your audience doesn't want to be bored to sleep with no jokes! A lot of people love laughing! You don't want them leaving the show and giving you bad feedback on what you did! You want them to laugh and leave saying, "Wow!! He was a great magician, and he was hilarious!!" You don't want them saying, "He's good, but he just doesn't have the humor," This what you don't want. I'm going to give you a few examples and then you might get what I'm saying
Magician #1:
He does 50 tricks for the show, makes jokes for each and everyone of them.
Magician #2:
He does 230 tricks, and only makes a few jokes for some magic tricks he does.
Who do you think would get better feedback? If you guessed Magician #1 your right, You see? People want to laugh at your magic show, they want to be entertained, not just clap after each trick, You want to make sure you have a humorus act to back your tricks up! And don't just make a joke for some of them, don't put the show on display until you get a good humor in it, It will help you get better feedback.

i have to agree a mind blowing trick is nice but when someone has to be entertained for a while you need to keep them in because pick a card gets old real fast when thats all you do. one thing i do to get laughs is i pick a card throw it back into the deck all serious and hand them the deck especially with hecklers and tell them to find my card.

You got a point, I just got into magic and I'm already really good at my tricks, (I haven't had any shows yet) so I'm gonna get some funny stuff to go with the tricks!!

I agree that humor can make your performance much more enjoyable for the audience, though I believe that the main goal of magic is to entertain through astonishment. There are other ways of entertaining an audience through humor, such as stand-up comedy. No other medium has potential for astonishing your audience though, which I believe is the strong point of magic.

Well ErdnaseDisciple, yes, that was wat magic is, but you still want the humor to help you
